Strickland's pay fight escalates, Tsarukyan-Gracie set for RAF Abu Dhabi, Rogan's Spotify deal, and prices for UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Duncan, Saturday, Oct. 10.
Middleweight champion Sean Strickland said in a new video that he wants to box and will "stick and move, collect my check and then move on" if the UFC makes him fight again, MMA Fighting and Bloody Elbow reported. "I want to fight, I want to box, I want to go win a boxing title, so we're trying to work that out," he said. He added that if Jake Paul "wants to give me a big old bag of money to fight him, I'm under contract, fine." He also said the UFC does not pay fighters enough to walk away. MMA Fighting wrote that it is not known how many bouts remain on his contract.
Separately, video shared online shows Nassourdine Imavov confronting Strickland at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas: "You not sign the contract? What is the problem? Money? I have money!" Strickland walked away, and both outlets describe security between the two. The contract position is Strickland's own account; the UFC has made no statement and has not announced a title fight.
Arman Tsarukyan will face Neiman Gracie at RAF Abu Dhabi on Nov. 14 at Etihad Arena, promotional officials confirmed to MMA Fighting. Kennedy Blades will defend her RAF middleweight title against Bella Mir, and Kyle Dake will defend his cruiserweight title against Alp Arslan Begenjov. MMA Fighting and Bloody Elbow both carried the Tsarukyan-Gracie bout; only MMA Fighting carried the two title fights. Colby Covington vs. Khamzat Chimaev is the main event. Tsarukyan also headlines RAF 14 against Dillon Danis on Oct. 23, per both outlets. RAF is a wrestling promotion, not MMA.
Joe Rogan has signed a multi-year extension with Spotify, reported by The Wall Street Journal as worth $250 million, MMA Fighting said. Rogan said in a statement carried by Bloody Elbow: "I'm extremely happy and excited to continue with them for years to come." The dollar figure rests on the Journal's report as relayed by MMA Fighting; we did not open the Journal story.
